Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Following its improved card stock quality that debuted with its popular 1990-91 O-Pee-Premier hockey card issue, producing a similar baseball set was a logical decision for the O-Pee-Chee company in the summer of 1991, with an unopened case of the product offered here, some three decades later. The two dozen boxes inside the case each feature 36 foil packs, with seven cards per pack. The box tops include an image of Nolan Ryan’s card that hails his 7th career no-hitter and the Ryan card is one of the keys in the 132-card set. Memorable all-stars Ripken, Bonds, Brett, Clemens, Gwynn, Mattingly, Ozzie, Griffey Jr., Puckett, Henderson, Sandberg and Thomas are also in the lineup, with the rookie card of French Canadian Denis Boucher noteworthy among the sparse rookie card contingent (of six). A big “64” in black marker appears on a side panel of the sealed case, with almost-standard light handling wear to the box.
