Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

From the original owner, showing only minimal handling and wear and sure to garner interest and action is this inviting batch of 1971 Topps football cards, led by the desirable rookie cards of Pittsburgh Steeler legends Terry Bradshaw and Joe Greene. Both of the key cards boast near-perfect centering and splendid blemish-free surfaces, with the Bradshaw RC exhibiting a white speck at three corners and a couple along the bottom edge. If it’s not EX-MT it’s mighty close, with the Mean Joe RC EX-MT+ in our book; very light touches and white specks at the bottom two corners are all that we can detect. The rest are headlined by other memorable legends, with a little white at a corner or a lightly touched corner observed on a majority throughout the stack, rendering them EX-MT or EX+ (a smaller percentage may be “only” EX), with however plenty of NM-or-better cards to come upon. Bart Starr stands out among the stars, while evidence of elastics once being around each series has led to indentations in the first and last few from each, with cards of 1-Unitas (VG+), 260-O.J. Simpson, 261-Warfield and 3-Schottenheimer RC among them. The latter contributes to the RC roster of 80-plus, as do Houston, Lanier, Wehrli, Sanders, Morris, Scott and Pearson, with Namath (EX (OC)), Butkus, Sayers, Blanda, Tarkenton, Griese, Csonka and Page among the star power. We spot but two obvious creases, one of them in one of the two (unmarked) checklists (#106), while 235-Shaw RC is the lone missing card. Numerous appealing components make for a group deserving of ample consideration.
