Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
The third and final volume of “The Trail of the Stanley Cup” is featured in this lot, with the three volume set serving as the definitive work on the subject and a definite prerequisite to any important hockey library. Author Charles Coleman's history of hockey and Lord Stanley's trophy from 1893 to 1967 is contained within the set, with the third volume featuring the Original Six era, from 1947 to 1967, with this leather-bound edition numbered “1233” (only 1,500 copies of Volume III were produced). Accompanying the volume, there is also a rare 1950-51 American Hockey League “Red Book” (9” x 11”), with stats and information listed along with a few team and player images. The Trail of the Stanley Cup volume III exhibits just very light wear with a few wrinkles to the spine, with a small area of paper loss to the accompanying original slip case. The AHL Red Book shows heavier surface wear to the duo-tang covers and toning and edge wear to the interior pages.
