Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Losing his life from a freak accident at age 40, after a scuffle with teammate Ron Stewart in 1970, Terry Sawchuk concluded his HOF career as the NHL shutout king with his passing, with his final win on Feb 1, 1970 also fittingly his final shutout. This original painting features the legendary keeper. At 20” x 30”, the oil on artist board work depicts Terry in game-action wonderfully, with his wool jersey, Northland stick and Art Ross puck all masterfully recreated. There is some wear along the top edge and dings to the corners, with the painting currently loose within a large 27 ½” x 37 ½” frame (the painting is loose within the frame).
