Signing with the Montreal Canadiens while only 17, and known throughout his career as a “money” goaltender, playing his best when it mattered most, Gerry McNeil spent five seasons backstopping the Habs and posted a 2.36 career GAA in the NHL. This honourary Dow trophy was presented to the two-time Stanley Cup champion, and it is accompanied by a pair of framed photos of McNeil with the Montreal Royals . At approx 20” in height and featuring a large bowl-shaped trophy mounted to a tiered and finished blond wooden base, a blocker and puck motif with Dow “Trophee” puck sits atop, with an engraved gold plaque affixed to the base stating “Hommage a Gerry McNeil 1968”. Just light surface wear is exhibited throughout, with the mounted trophy able to swivel currently on the wooden base. The black and white period photos are both 7” x 9” (exposed), with mattes from J. Louis Pourier, with each framed to approx 11” x 13” (one photo exhibits a number of small creases and surface indentations, while the other sports a minor corner crease, with wear to both frames).
