Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

No stranger to being just as effective with his elbows and knees as we was with his stick, Ted Lindsay earned the moniker “Terrible Ted” for his especially physical play, with later Red Wing star Joey Kocur made from a similar mold. The Kelvington native would serve as one of the most penalized players in history, with his devastating right hand feared throughout the NHL. Offered directly from the Ted Lindsay Foundation with proceeds from this sale to benefit their continued battle against autism, we have an oversized photo signed by the tough twosome. At 16” x 20”, the black and white print pictures the pair posing with the Ted Lindsay Award, with both jerseys and the mounted player atop the trophy depicted in full colour. Each has signed over their jersey in black marker, with Ted adding his indication year. The prints itself shows light wear, with touches to the corners. An LOA will accompany.
Originally created by the legendary Hall of Fame superstar in 2001 to assist a friend’s child diagnosed with autism, the Ted Lindsay Foundation was established to “support research and educational programs focusing on the cause and management of autism spectrum disorders.” Although Ted sadly left us in 2019, the foundation’s important work has continued, with over 5 million raised from inception through 2020. At the 28th National Philanthropy Day celebration, the Ted Lindsay Foundation received the prestigious “Outstanding Foundation Award” for 2019, from the Greater Detroit Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals for demonstrating “outstanding commitment through financial support and through encouragement and motivation to others to take leadership roles in philanthropy and community involvement.” A partial list of programs supported by the Ted Lindsay Foundation include; FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation, The Healing Haven-Linking Hands and Hearts, The Courage Awards, Venetian’s Club’s Halloween Party, The Johnson Center, Dutton Farms and For The Kids Foundation.
