Scoring both Pittsburgh goals in the deciding Game 7 of the 2009 Stanley Cup finals to seal the deal for the Penguins, Maxime Talbot spent parts of six seasons in Pennsylvania, and earned consecutive All-Star appearances in 2003 and 2004. This lot offers a helmet worn by Talbot that has been photo-matched to both the 2007-08 regular season and Stanley Cup finals, accompanied by gloves worn by the LeMoyne native at the 2011 Winter Classic, also photo-matched. First, the helmet is a CCM model in solid black with intact strapping and harness, with Pens decals on each side and “25” on the lower reverse along with an NHL decal. Nice game use is shown, with numerous scratches, marks and surface abrasions. The gloves are also CCM models in royal blue with “Talbot” and “25” screened in white to each, with moderate use exhibited which includes wear and sweat staining to each palm and heavier rubbing to the leather in areas.
Regarding the photo-matches, for the helmet, Getty Image #83425156 (Oct 23, 2008 vs Carolina – regular season) has been matched to a number of surface scratches visible on the right side near the chin strap/bolts, with each screw including the example behind the NHL decal completely aligned. Additionally, Getty Image #812820022 (May 28, 2008 - Game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals) has been matched to areas of paint loss on the CCM logo over the forehead, with the upper left clipped corner of the Pens decal on the left side also matching. For the gloves, Getty Image #107833273 (2011 Winter Classic) has been matched to the small piece of beige material visible within the threading just above "Talbot" on the left glove, while Getty Image #107915255 (2011 Winter Classic) has been matched to the faint black mark over the top of the "M" of "CCM" on the right glove.
