Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

The Black Hawks, Bruins and Rangers were featured in Topps’ hockey card set for the third straight season in 1962-63, with this ensemble comprised of mostly crease-free cards which exhibit rather light corner/edge wear. We observe a majority of examples in the VG-EX to EX range with a white corner speck or two or more and intermittent corner dings, with some a tad higher and lesser lights also present. Keys include Chicago stars Bobby Hull (VG-EX), Stan Mikita (EX) and Glenn Hall (EX+), with the Rangers (VG-EX+) best among the team cards and the Black Hawks similar but almost miscut. Future members of New York’s “GAG Line” are notable; Vic Hadfield’s rookie card is one of 15 affected by a wax stain on the back but is otherwise EX+, with Jean Ratelle off-centered and VG-EX (MK) and Rod Gilbert one of a half-dozen condition exceptions. It’s a low grade (P) filler with a couple of tears while other notables are 1-Watson (F), 2-Perreault RC (VG) and 45-Worsley (F). The #66 checklist has a couple of creases and all but one box colored-in. All-in-all though, mostly uniform, quite attractive condition that should satisfy those not fond of creases but who don’t require high grade.
