Developed in Scotland from the Middle Ages onward, golf experienced international popularity starting in the 19th century and has since become one of the most popular sports on Earth with tournaments such as The Masters garnering a cult like following. Offered here, is this lot of two autographed golf prints featuring signatures from some of the best to ever play. First, we offer a poster from the 1995 Telus World Skins Game held at the National Golf Club of Canada that has been signed by all four contestants including Nick Faldo, Ben Crenshaw, Fred Couples and Nick Price. Measuring to full dimensions of 22 ¼” x 27 ¼”, the poster measures 16” x 20” and is housed in a sleek black metal frame. No glass covers the piece with both the matting and poster showing warping from moisture. The frame shows light wear to the corners and edges with the signatures of Couples and Faldo showing lightness and fading while the other two show bold and dark.
Also included with the lot, is a print of the 15th hole at Augusta National Golf Club that has been signed by 1935 Masters champion, Gene Sarazen. Measuring approx. 28” x 22” and framed to full dimensions of 35 ½” x 30 ½”, the beautiful print of the hole dubbed “Firethorn” is housed in a light brown wooden frame with edge beading while a plaque at the bottom details Sarazen’s double eagle on the hole the final round that propelled him to victory. The champion Sarazen has signed the bottom of the piece beside him image with a bold pencil signature that displays without issue while the opposite side shows a serial number of “603/850” along with the artists signature in matching pencil that also displays well. The frame shows light wear with a few dings to the corners and edges.
