Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Two stacks of Canadian Football League cards from six decades ago are offered up here and exhibit considerable handling and wear but are still respectable and acceptable and feature numerous stars and Hall of Famers. Coming around most often are examples in the G to VG range, joined by some lower grade entries, with some nicer (VG+, VG-EX) also in the mix. Only #108-Jim Roundtree is required to complete a (132-card) 1961 set, headlined by Ron Lancaster’s rookie card (G), with fellow legendary quarterbacks Russ Jackson, Bernie Faloney, Jackie Parker, Joe Kapp and Kenny Ploen contributing to both the ’61 and ’62 groups. A crease-free ’61 checklist (VG) is unmarked and noteworthy, as are Willie Fleming and Ron Stewart RCs (both G), while 39-Parker is among the lesser lights, with back damage. The ‘62s originally came in two-card panels and are in separated form, with condition similar and toning also to report. Team photo/checklist cards are marked, with 37-Calgary and 169-Winnipeg amid the 14 cards not present. Others include stars Rote and Shatto, as well as #s 33, 97, 105, 115, 127, 142, 153, 154, 158 and 161. There is some star power among over four dozen ’61 duplicates; Fleming and Stewart (2) RCs are accompanied by Kapp, Bright, Coffey, Patterson, Gilchrist and Ploen (2). Meanwhile, swell complements are two 25-card series that comprise Jogo’s 1983 Hall of Fame card set. Legends from all eras are featured and include Leadley, Batstone, Krol, Lionel Conacher, Golab, Kwong, Etcheverry, O’Quinn, Trawick and Reed, along with those already mentioned above, and are in NM to MINT condition.
