Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Cards and a few other Canadian Football League goodies from the 1960s are offered up here and we’ll start with the Post Cereal cards, with some four dozen from 1962 highlighted by Dixon, James, Rigney, Ploen, Gray, Harris, Fleming, Kapp (torn low grade) and other stars. Almost-standard uneven cuts, as well as corner/edge wear and not so much creases send most of the stack to the F to VG range. A 1963 Post album displays rather well with no nasty flaws and includes 52 cards (Parker, Jackson, Shatto, Ploen, Coffey, Brown, Bright) affixed in their appropriate places. Topps near complete sets from 1964 (missing 10 for completion) and ’65 (129/132) exhibit moderate handling and wear, with the latter group (VG average) nicer than the former. The ‘65s boast 52 rookie cards (George Reed, Hugh Campbell, Herm Harrison), with three commons required for completion. One checklist (#60) is filled-in but respectable while #88 is a marked and a tortured filler. Numbers not present in the ’64 ensemble are 3-Kapp, 26, 30-Faloney, 40-Dixon, 52-Thelen, 54, 55, 60, 83-Gray and 88-Checklist, with the #23 checklist marked but otherwise VG. Throw-ins may yield a few decent surprises; their miscellaneous low grade CFL cards mostly from 1959 to ’63, with over four dozen present, including some stars. Half a dozen Hamilton Tiger-Cats publicity-like pictures from the ‘60s are on paper stock and include Mosca, Coffey, Barrow and Zuger, while Tiger-Cats Christmas cards from 1980, ’81 and ’82 feature nice team photos on the interior, with Harold Ballard! front and center.
