Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
The first time in history that the Fall Classic would be contested outside the borders of the United States, the 1992 World Series featured Canada’s sweetheart in the form of the Toronto Blue Jays defeating a strong Atlanta Braves club in six games, with this their first of two consecutive championships. Originally purchased at the “Grandravine Special Program Auction” in 1996, we have a home base used at the SkyDome/Rogers Centre during the 1992 World Series (Games 3, 4 and 5 were played at SkyDome). Acquired for the original charity auction through an association with Jays catcher Pat Borders according to our consignor, the 19 ½” x 20 ½” base was produced by Jack Corbett Hollywood Bases with their company logo embossed, with the original metal plate with mounted lug nuts affixed to the underside. Heavy use is shown with considerable surface wear including cuts, scratches and dirt staining to the material, with no obtrusive damage or detached missing pieces. The original Grandravine auction sheet which lists this item will accompany.
Grandravine Special Hockey is a hockey program for the developmentally challenged for all ages, male or female, regardless of skill level. It is the oldest special hockey program in North America, founded in 1980.
