Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Great chance here for those who have yet to dive into the baseball “coin” world or for lovers of coins and the like who’ve never gotten involved in material from the 1980s. Hall of Famers are plentiful in four dozen coins from 1964, with Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Koufax, Ford, Yaz, Brooks and Frank Robinson, Kaline and Killebrew all contributing but with significant rim and other wear on most. Topps coins from 1971 are represented by a dozen but no big names and then it’s on to the late-‘80s bonanza. We count four complete (48-coin) sets from 1987 (in coin holders and 20-pocket pages), another four (60-coin) sets from ’88 (stored similarly), plus a set missing seven to be complete, and then two (60-coin) sets from ’89, the latter accompanied by a partial set (48/60). There are also over 200 loose coins (a mix of ‘88s and ‘89s) and some unopened packs. Packs from ’88 total 18 and are still in an original display box, while from ’89 is a complete 36-count box and another box with 19 packs. Coin enthusiasts may also be fond of little pinback buttons picturing Major League stars which came out in 1984. One display box has 24 unopened packs (three buttons in each), while upwards of 200 loose pins have been stored in another display box. Fun, fun to be had with this stash of nifty collectibles from decades ago.
