Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Inviting 79 players to compete for a spot on the roster of the famous Toronto Maple Leafs including 7 netminders, 24 defensemen and 48 forwards, the club held training camp in Peterborough in September of 1965, with 13 exhibition games played against NHL competition. This stick hails from the event and has been signed by 16. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model with the original white tape over the blade and handle, “20” is handwritten to the upper shaft, and while Bob Pulford wore the #20 jersey for the Leafs at the time, we cannot confirm that the stick was used by him or anyone else at the camp. Heavier use is shown, with numerous marks to the blade and lower shaft, with a tiny age crack at the toe of the blade. The signatures have mostly been executed in red, with many light, worn or hard to decipher, with signers to include Dave Keon, Frank Mahovlich, Allan Stanley, Orland Kurtenbach, Pete Stemkowski, Bobby Baun, and others. The opposite side of the shaft has "Toronto Maple Leafs, Sept 30/65 from Peterborough training camp" handwritten.
