A veteran of over 450 NHL contests while dressing for seven different clubs, German-born Randy Gilhen was drafted by Hartford in 1982 and was a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins 1991 Stanley Cup championship. Transitioning from Winnipeg to Pittsburgh, this Penguins jersey was worn by Gilhen during his first of two seasons with Pittsburgh, in 1989-90. Hailing from the 1989-90 first set, a Maska Ultrafil label with handwritten “19” is affixed to the collar, with embroidered CCM and Century Sports crest over the reverse hem. Styled with a fully-embroidered Penguins team crest, “19” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with “Gilhen” across the affixed nameplate in single black twill. Sporting heavy game-use with puck and stick marks covering the front and lower reverse, there are additional marks and burns over each sleeve, with pilling to the interior. There is also a team repair on the left elbow, with red paint transfer to the lower left sleeve and front right shoulder.
