Yes, Cal Ripken Jr. is the focal point of this Topps Traded grab bag, with not one but two of the Iron Man’s coveted 1982 issues involved. As many with experience know, removing cards from tight-fitting “Traded” boxes and putting them back in can easily result in touched corners and corner dings but we’re pleased to report that such is not the case with the Ripken examples. We cannot claim MINT for either but see one at NM-MT and the other similar or very close at NM+. One of the Ozzie Smith entries from 1982 is also NM-MT, with the other NM+. There are three sets from ’81 but an aforementioned corner touch or ding and/or less-than-perfect centering are observed with all three Tim Raines, Fernando Valenzuela and Danny Ainge cards – perfection is tough to come by. The ’86 ensemble yields Bo Jackson and Barry Bonds cards but again, a tiny corner ding (Bo) and two very light corner touches (Barry) deny a MINT assessment. The ’87-and-up contributors exhibit very little handling with however some curvature to most cards to be aware of. Greg Maddux and Ken Griffey Jr. cards are among those that you’ll get to examine, with one of the ’87 sets still with its original piece of tape intact. Lots of possibilities and memories are available here.
