Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

A rather inviting ensemble of 1957-58 Topps cards, headlined by attractive crease-free rookie cards of three Hall of Fame legends is on the block here, with approximately two-thirds of the 66-card issue comprised of EX-or-better representatives, with some of them possibly just shy at VG-EX+. We’d say EX+ with a bit of spotting/toning observed in the upper left border is the key Glenn Hall RC, with those of Johnny Bucyk (EX) and Norm Ullman (EX with a light corner ding) also contributing while that of Pierre Pilote has similar characteristics but is off-centered, along with being miscut on the back. Terry Sawchuk (EX+ (OC)), Lindsay and Delvecchio are also issue-free, with a crack/crease in the upper right corner region lowering the Gordie Howe entry to VG. Not making it to EX are mostly cards with slight rounding of the corners or a small light crease, including 27-Vasko RC, 48-Kelly and the first (1-Chevrefils) and last (66-Creighton) cards. With multiple light creases is 61-Lewicki, with all backs problem-free except for one; 63-Henry has a small tape stain. The rookie card roster (of 20) also includes Fontinato, Horvath, Litzenberger and Simmons – we surmise you’ll enjoy this colorful set when it arrives.
