Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Thrilling Manhattanites with his especially brutal bodychecks and strong defensive play while representing both the New York Rangers and Americans throughout out most of the 1920s/30s, Ivan "Ching" Johnson concluded his HOF career with two AHA seasons as player-coach with the Minneapolis Millers, and we offer a rarely-seen late-1930s "Ching Johnson Night" pin. At just under 1 3/4" in diameter and much harder to locate than the smaller Johnson Arco Skates pins from the era, Ching and "Rollie Johnson" are both depicted, with "Minneapolis Arena" beneath along with the date of "Jan 24". "Midwest Badge and Novelty Co, Mpls" also appears along the rim. The pinback is intact, with rusting to the reverse and toning/darkening to the obverse.
