Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

A classic run of card sets featuring the men who helped write the seven-season history of the World Hockey Association is up for grabs here, led chronologically by a 66-card set from 1974-75 which is led numerically by “The Howes” card. EX-MT in our eyes, it’s joined by similarly crisp cards, with intermittent light corner touches observed and most cards in the EX-MT to MINT range. A couple of creased cards and a Bobby Hull example (VG+) with two edge notches and two surface indentations are condition exceptions, with an unmarked checklist (EX-MT+) also notable. The toughest of the four sets, the ’75-76 (132-card) assembly includes a majority of NM-or-better entries, with however the key Mark Howe rookie card and the (unmarked) checklist sent to VG+ by a small light crease, with a dozen sub-EX-MT cards also among the lesser lights. Also a 132-card effort is the ’76-77 set and although the key cards are not affected, we spot a few creased VGs and more corner dings, making for more EX and EX+ cards than in the two previous gatherings. Typically sharp are ’77-78 cards, with the 66-card set here featuring an EX-MT #1-Gordie Howe contributor and mostly EX-MT to NM among the rest. Seventeen miscut cards, with color showing on the left edge, are to be aware of. An instant WHA collection or inventory awaits your bid.
