Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

The “bookends” of this foursome from the 1970s may well be the most appealing to you, with barely a crease spotted in a near ’74-75 Topps set (8 cards shy of completion), with some NM and NM-MT-or-better cards to discover, although a majority exhibit a touched corner or light corner ding helping to render them in the EX to EX-MT range. Potvin and McDonald rookie cards (both EX-MT) and EX+ RCs of Cherry and Salming are most notable, with a light back crease sending a Bowman rookie to VG+. Two checklists, Dryden, Orr, Orr All-Star and three others featuring Bobby are not present. Orr is one of 14 cards missing from a ’77-78 (396-card) O-Pee-Chee set, with the other stars present but biggies Dryden, Lafleur and Trottier roughed-up and lower than the (EX) majority/average. A group of ’78-79s is without a special Orr collector’s card and Dryden, with a Mike Bossy rookie rather brutally miscut and stained on the front. A crease/issue is also to mention with Taylor, Wilson and Federko RCs, while Dryden and 1-Bossy Highlight are multi-creased. Expect an EX average with the remainder. A ’79-80 set minus the Wayne Gretzky rookie and a common is superior to the two previous OPC groups, with EX, EX+ and EX-MT cards combining to dominate, although the Oilers team logo/checklist, Howe and Hull are VG with corner dings. The best of three checklists (#237) is unmarked, off-centered and lightly stained, with another marked and a third with a heavy crease. Still, some decent options will be yours to decide upon when this ‘70s “show” arrives.
