Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Early postcards featuring hockey teams are somewhat difficult to locate, with collectors thrilled to find even the odd example. We offer a treasure trove of early team images totaling 39 that serve as an entire collection. Spanning right from the turn-of-the-century until approx the 1950s (most are earlier), the majority feature a postal reverse, with many filled-out and mailed. Identifiable teams include the 1933 Allan Cup-finalist Saskatoon Quakers, along with the 1938-39 Quakers, Newboro Hockey Team – 1910 Beatty Cup winners, the Tannenbaum Beer Team, 1908 Windsor Swastika team (swastika emblem jerseys), 1907 Halifax Crescents (2, with each different), 1912-13 ICHAA Hockey Team and others. There are also 3 different postcards that feature the Shawinigan Cataractes (1940-41 – 2, and 1954-55 – actually a photo, not a postcard). Condition ranges, with the majority of the postcards showing moderate wear, with a few in lower grade which includes heavier corner and surface wear along with toning and creasing.
