The Great One and his autograph star here, with an artist’s rendition of Wayne Gretzky and an image of him in his Rangers uniform appearing on two similar yet different cards which each include a piece of a jersey that Wayne wore in a game during his first year with the Los Angeles Kings, 1988-89. The cards were issued ten years later in Upper Deck products, with “SPx PROSPECTS ED.” appearing below the one with a white swatch and “SP AUTHENTIC” beneath the black jersey piece. A bold Gretzky autograph is featured on both, with the SPx Prospects example hand-numbered “31/40” on the back and no notable flaws detected in either card. Wayne also is pictured in a New York jersey on a ’98-99 SP Authentic Sign of the Times gold version, serial-numbered “90/99” on the upper front, with an autograph penned near the bottom. Smiling and waving to the crowd following his memorable last game at Madison Square Garden is Wayne on an autographed Epic Signatures card that was a special pack pull in Upper Deck’s 1999-2000 Century Legends product. It too is a gold version and hand-numbered “13/100” on the front, in the lower right corner, with a few edge “pushes” we’d call them and a white speck spotted on an upper back corner of the Sign of the Times card. Mentioned for accuracy are the latter two signatures, a tad weaker than those on the jersey cards. All-in-all, a fabulous foursome, with Wayne’s prolific-ness similar to that of The Fab Four (Beatles). Can you say “Greatest of All Time?!”
