Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
One of the original 9 Hall of Fame inductees, Howie Morenz spent a dozen years representing the sacred CH which included 3 Stanley Cup championships. Morenz passed away at the age of 34, on March 8, 1937, from complications resulting from an on-ice incident, and we offer one of the highly desirable programs from the famous memorial game held for the superstar at the Montreal Forum, on Nov 2, 1937. Differing from other Morenz memorial game specimens, this example features numerous period newsprint clippings affixed throughout the interior of the program, including a trio of Sweet Caporal program inserts (Joliat, March and Mantha) and a 1935-40 Crown Brand Montreal Maroons team photo. The majority of the additional clippings include mostly individual players. The program is in poor condition but displays much nicer, with tape added to the spine and some interior pages, with creasing, edge tears and areas of discolouration.
