Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Two classic sets from the Original Six era offered here are led chronologically by wonderful color images, with famed photographer Harold Barkley responsible for them and the (42) paper productions part of a Toronto Star promotion. They’ve been kept in 5” by 7” toploaders and we can report that after pulling out the top dozen big names, condition is pleasing, with a tad of intermittent corner wear and no obvious creases observed – nice. Meanwhile, Coca-Cola drinkers in the mid-1960s had a chance to send away for team sets of cards, also produced on paper stock, with 18 cards per team attached accordion-style and the six groups here still in that form. A 19th card (present on all) could be torn off and used/mailed, along with 50 cents, in exchange for an album to store/display the cards. Some light toning to the front (goalie) cards and minor soiling on the order form cards on back is to be aware of, with the Maple Leafs team set displaying the best and the Canadiens lesser than the rest due to pen marks on the back card. Light wear to the corners and some edges (on all) is also to note, with all the stars of the day featured in both sets, notably Howe, Hull, Beliveau, Hall, Mikita, Mahovlich, Richard, Sawchuk and Horton.
