Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

Some appealing cardboard classics and some intrigue are offered up here, led chronologically and in terms of importance/value by a 1984-85 O-Pee-Chee set of 396, highlighted by the rookie cards of Steve Yzerman (NM+ (OC)), Doug Gilmour (NM), Cam Neely (EX-MT) and Chris Chelios (EX-MT+). NM-MT Lafontaine and Andreychuk rookies and a similar but off-centered Gretzky are also noteworthy, with mostly NM to MINT cards among the remainder. From ’87-88 and headlining a 264-card effort are RCs of Luc Robitaille (NM) and Adam Oates (EX-MT+), along with NM+ or NM-MT superstars Gretzky, Lemieux and Roy. The rest are still housed in their original (factory set) box and the vast majority also exhibit very little handling/wear, if at all. The sharp trio of sets is completed by a 264-card assembly, although we regret to inform you of a counterfeit Brett Hull RC, the lack of a little yellow dot in the pushpin that holds the nameplate on the front and the filled-in “A”s in the text to the left of the NHL logo on the lower back among the tell-tale signs. A NM Brendan Shanahan rookie and a Wayne Gretzky card with a touched corner and a edge notch (middle right edge) are also to note. Still, a chance to land three attractive sets with one swoop merits consideration.
