Selected by Washington in 1984, Kris King represented six different NHL clubs throughout his lengthy career, and registered over 2,000 penalty minutes. Kings also served as the last captain of the original Winnipeg Jets. This Toronto Maple Leafs alternate captain’s jersey was worn by 1996 King Clancy Memorial Trophy winner in 1997-98, his first of three seasons in Ontario. Nike and Center Ice labeling with “54” sizing is affixed to the collar, with embroidered Nike and NHL crests over the reverse hem. Styled with the iconic maple leaf team crest, “12” appears over the sleeves and verso in single layered twill, with matching vintage-style crests over each shoulder. The alternate’s “A” is also secured by velcro and not sewn, with the cuffs tightened – with the circumference of each shortened. Sporting heavy use with considerable wear to the material throughout including numerous puck and stick marks, team repairs are also abundant, with examples on the front (1), reverse (1), collar (large repaired area) and sleeves (9). The team patch is sewn to the inside hem, with an LOA from the Leafs signed by Ken Dryden to accompany.
