Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

From a season when Mario Lemieux was following up his 100-point rookie campaign with a highly impressive 48-goal, 93-assist, 141-point campaign comes this rookie card of the budding superstar, accompanied by the other 263 cards in O-Pee-Chee’s 1985-86 issue. As you can see, centering is an issue with the offered example of card #9, with a light ding to the top right and bottom left corners to report, along with a minuscule surface indentation on the front and two small indented marks above “EUX” on the upper back, the sum adding up to an EX+ assessment in our book. After verifying the rest, we can tell of minimal handling but intermittent touched corners. It’s likely that EX-MT, EX-MT+ and NM cards combine to outnumber NM-or-better representatives, but some high grade cards can definitely be expected by the new owner, with a slight curvature to the cards, (with the exception of the Lemieux RC), also notable. The only obvious creased exception is Mario’s 262-Rookie Scoring Leader (VG+) card, while a tiny right edge nick denies the well-centered (NM) Al MacInnis RC a higher grade. Gretzky (EX-MT), second-year cards of Yzerman (EX-MT+), Gilmour, Neely, Chelios and Lafontaine, as well as a Pelle Lindbergh memorial card, are other noteworthy contributors.
