Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
The key card in the O-Pee-Chee company's 1986-87 hockey card effort is the first cardboard appearance of Patrick Roy, a 20-year old Quebec City native who grew up a fan of the Nordiques and who keyed the Montreal Canadiens return to Stanley Cup glory in the spring of 1986. Patrick's heroics earned him his first of three Conn Smythe Trophy awards as playoff MVP and came a year after he had backstopped the Sherbrooke Canadiens to the Calder Cup, emblematic of American Hockey League supremacy. The Roy RC available here has been inspected and encapsulated by KSA, with the firm's 8 NMM assessment appearing on the label. Very light touches at the four corners are detectable and noteworthy, with no scratches to the holder. The holder of three Stanley Cup rings is "Saint Patrick."
