Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Presenting the vintage game on the prairies as well as featuring one of the most storied hockey teams in history, we have a pair of antique hockey cabinet team photos, with the Allan Cup-finalist Montreal Victorias Hockey Club from 1927-28, along with the Regina Bees Capital Hockey Club from 1911-12 – “Amateur Champions of Saskatchewan” as winners of the Van Valkenburg Cup. First, the Victorias photo is approx 11” x 13” and affixed to a 13” x 15 ½” mount, with the full team pictured in composite images including 1932 Olympic gold medalist William Cockburn. Shuttered by famous photographer Rice, the image is clean with no issues, with light wear to the “rolled” mount which includes very minor water staining visible at the base along with a few small edge tears. The 1911-12 Regina Bees photo is 10” x 12 ½” and affixed to a thick 16” X 19” mount, with the full team pictured in composite images along with the ornate Van Valkenburg Cup. There is some loss to the sheet affixed between the photo and mount, with the image not affected, with scratches, blemishes and corner wear to the mount. The image has a horizontal strip of wear that runs across the middle of the surface, with a few additional scratches and blemishes visible.
