Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Named the second-best golfer amongst athletes of sports other than golf by Golf Digest, Ray Sheppard achieved an especially rare feat during his NHL career, scoring at least 20 goals a season for six different clubs. From his time in sunny Florida, we have a photo-matched Panthers jersey worn by the Pembroke native in 1997-98, his third season with the club. A Starter label and “58-R” size swatch are affixed to the collar, with embroidered Starter and NHL crests over the reverse hem. Styled with a large multi-coloured Panthers team crest, “26” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with the Panthers 5th season patch sewn to the right breast. Sporting heavy game-use with a number of puck and stick marks covering the front and sleeves, there is considerable wear to the material throughout along with burns, scrapes, pulls and pilling. Getty Images #327606 and #327609 (Oct 22, 1997) have both been matched to the long white loose thread on the right upper area of the team crest.
