Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

A nice smiling depiction of Mickey Mantle graces the front of this 1956 Topps card, the likes of which were discovered in packs during The Mick's best year in baseball. Coming off his first of four American League home run titles in 1955, the Yankee slugger belted 52 in '56 and also led the league in RBIs (130) and batting average (.353) to win the Triple Crown, before contributing to New York's World Series championship - what a season! Card #135 here is the gray back version and received a mark of FAIR 1.5 from SGC. Corner/edge wear and a diagonal crease in the upper right corner region are most obvious. An obvious perennial All-Star, Mantle was a power-hitting switch-hitter like no other in the history of the game. Time to add this Mick to your power vintage card/'56 Topps stash.
