Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
First playing at Jarry Park in the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension neighborhood of Montreal, the Expos moved to their new home at Olympic Stadium in 1977, and we offer a team-signed bat used by Dave Cash to hit the first historic single at the venue, on April 15, 1977. An H&B Louisville Slugger G105 signature model produced during the 1973 to 1979 labeling period with “Powerized” logo to the right of the center brand and signature over the barrel, “30” is handwritten to the flared knob in black marker, with light use exhibited including a crack repaired during the period by our consignor’s father, with the surface fairly clean and a rich patina. Approx 30 have signed the barrel including Cash, with his inscription reading “First Single in Olympic Stadium”, with the additional signers to include Tony Perez, Gary Carter, Andre Dawson, Warren Cromartie, Ellis Valentine, Larry Parrish, Chris Speier, Steve Rogers, Joe Kerrigan, Bill Atkinson, Barry Foote, Jose Morales, Bill Atkinson, Dick Williams, Will McEnaney and others. The signatures display beautifully and remain bold, with a detailed letter of provenance to accompany from our consignor.
