Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Sadly drowning after accepting the head coach position with the Montreal Canadiens in 1939, Babe Siebert had previously spent a trio of seasons with the Habs, and won Stanley Cup championships with the Montreal Maroons and New York Rangers. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens and most likely displayed originally at the Montreal Forum and possibly later at the Bell Centre, we have a Hall of Fame honoured member framed photo of the 1937 Hart Memorial Trophy winner. At 7 ½” x 10” (exposed), the original Rice image is a modern print, with Siebert depicted in his Canadiens finery. A gold-coloured name plaque listing his induction year (1964) has been inserted beneath, double-matted and framed to 16” x 16”, with some light wear to the frame to note. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
