Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
The last remaining superstar netminder to play without a mask, Gump Worsley produced an especially lengthy career that included tending goal well into his 40s, with a pair of Vezina Trophies won along with four Stanley Cup championships. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens and most likely displayed originally at the Montreal Forum and possibly later at the Bell Centre, we have a Hall of Fame honoured member framed photo of the iconic goaltender. At 7” x 9 ½” (exposed), the modern print pictures the Gumper making a save against the Chicago Black Hawks, with suspended puck in full view. A gold-coloured name plaque listing his induction year (1980) has been inserted beneath, double-matted and framed to 16” x 16”, with some light wear to the frame to note. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
