Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Star and rookie cards, mostly from the 1970s and ‘80s highlight this big stash – you’ll have boxes and boxes to go through when it arrives. There are only a handful of NHL contributors from the ‘50s, with Tim Horton’s (VG) ’53-54 Parkie pleasant to look at, while the Quebec Senior Hockey League is represented by ten ’51-52 Bedard & Donaldson (Laval Dairy) examples and (20) ’52-53 St. Lawrence Sales cards. A dozen ‘60s entries and small stacks from the early-‘70s segue into the bulk of the collection. We’ll get to the approximate totals for the commons/minor stars in a moment but should first note the presence of just over 50 Wayne Gretzky cards, with our photos giving you a good look at the roster. Oh, and the Mario Lemieux rookie card – it’s without real unsightly flaws but a (bottom left) corner ding and a little bend in that area send it to VG+ - perfect to fill-in a set with. Orr and Dryden and Lafleur and other Hall of Famers are amid the material from the ‘70s, with most of it not high grade and then of course improving in the ‘80s, most noticeably from ’82-83 and beyond. Here are the rough estimates of what you’ll get to sift through, with duplication present and an all O-Pee-Chee lineup. 1974-75 – 100+, ’75-76 – 100+, ’76-77 – 200+, ’77-78 – 700+, ’78-79 – 500+, ’79-80 – 100 (low grade), ’80-81 – 500, ’81-82 – 400+, ’82-83 – 500, ’83-84 – 500+, ’84-85 – 300+, and ’85-86 350+. A box with “1990s” on it includes over 400 cards, including upwards of (200) ’89-90 OPCs and the remainder mostly McDonald’s cards (a bit of Tim Hortons action) from recent years. Rookie cards, second-year cards, star cards – check out our images – we’ve tried to show as many as possible.
