Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

A Stan Mikita card, graded EX-MT 6 by PSA and an almost-similar Bobby Hull raw example (EX+) are among the highlights of this 1961-62 Topps set, released after the two Chicago sports heroes had the previous spring helped the Black Hawks triumph in the Stanley Cup finals. Meanwhile, the Rangers were excited about two young rookies, with Rod Gilbert (VG) and Jean Ratelle (G+) RCs contributing here. The vast majority are nicer, with four EX-MT-or-better commons standing out and joined by 19 at EX or EX+, including the three team cards, three action cards and rookie cards of 2-Green, 4-D. Smith and 37-DeJordy. Another 18 are crease-free VG-EX or VG-EX+ entries, with HOFers Hall, Worsley, Harvey and Pilote and Stapleton RC most notable. Then it’s a dozen in the VG to VG+ range (1-Watson, Bucyk, Bathgate) and six at G, including the (unmarked) checklist. Not already mentioned are three graded cards; 64-Meissner/Worsley Action (PSA NM-MT 8 (OC)), 39-Robazza RC (PSA EX-MT 6) and 27-McDonald (KSA 7 NM). Appealing vintage cardboard to contemplate.
