Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Three of the four most important/valuable cards in Parkhurst’s 1960-61 set contribute here in encapsulated form, with a Maurice Richard card graded EX 5 by PSA and joined by Gordie Howe and Tim Horton examples slabbed 5 EX by KSA. The latter two are inferior to the Rocket, it must be noted, with at least one small corner crease and more corner wear observed with the Howe and staining visible in the bottom border of the Horton. Superior to the trio is a PSA EX-MT 6 card of Jean Beliveau, with 22-Murray Oliver RC completing the graded portion at PSA EX 5. The raw representatives are led by Jacques Plante, his card displaying similarly to that of Richard, with however a tiny back crease in an upper corner lowering it to VG+. A dozen commons and minor stars are best among the rest, making it to EX, while at VG-EX or VG-EX+ are six, including Bower, Sawchuk, Stanley and Armstrong. In the VG to VG+ range are 19, with Harvey, Delvecchio, Kelly, McKenzie RC and the four Canadiens “line” cards notable. A group of G or G+ cards (14) includes Mahovlich, Henri Richard and Geoffrion. With evidence of once having been held by a couple of vintage photo album “triangles” are Ullman (otherwise VG-EX) and 61-Morrison (o/w VG). Some paper loss (reverse) affects 23-Abel, while a scarce oddity is 33-Aldcorn; it’s low grade but with a miscut image of Brian Smith’s #27 rookie card printed over the write-up on the back.
