Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Challenging the National Hockey League for players back in the day was the World Hockey Association, with the cards of WHA players in O-Pee-Chee's 1972-73 set rather challenging and a rather appealing gathering offered here, a strong majority of it EX-or-better. There are plenty of EX-MT-or-better examples to come upon, with NM-or-better entries tending to show up more in 3rd Series cards (numbered 210 and up), including the WHA representatives. We only spot two dozen with a light or obvious crease, with however 145-Dryden (light back crease)(VG+) and 336-Hull (heavier side-to-side crease)(G+) among them. Other keys include 129-Orr (EX+), 59-Lafleur (VG-EX), 58-Orr Action (EX-MT (ST))(wax stain - reverse) and 227-Orr/Park All-Star (EX-MT). The few variations are not present, with the #334 checklist being the corrected version (VG+) and one of two not marked. The other is #6 (VG-EX), while #19 has but one box on the front and back darkened-in, with #190 neatly filled-in in red ink. From an eventful time in pro hockey history and indeed, a historical season, these cards are significant in hockey card annals.
