Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

This 1960-61 Parkie set admittedly gets off to a lousy start with a hammered Tim Horton card, a multi-creased Frank Mahovlich and a creased Johnny Bower with wax stains (front) but then includes some much more attractive crease-free contributors among the varied lot. The star-studded Canadiens contingent features crease-free cards of the Rocket (VG-EX), Plante (EX+) and Harvey (VG-EX+), with a tiny corner crease sending Beliveau to VG+ and Henri Richard at VG. Red Wings’ biggies Sawchuk and Howe are only F, with the front of Gordie once underneath a notepad (multiple indentations from a kid’s printing), but 26-Ullman, 36-Delvecchio and 37-McKenzie RC are VG-EX or a tad better. Among the rest, we count an even three dozen in the VG, VG+ and VG-EX range, with corner wear and not creases usually the grade-lowering flaw, with half a dozen at G and five P-F others completing. The new owner may want to remove the wax from the front of a total of seven cards, while damage-free backs, with the exception of one, are also noteworthy.
