Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Affording fans and hockey supporters with the news of the day and current ongoings of the NHL and the sport at large, Hockey Blueline magazine debuted in 1954, and fittingly, featured Mr Hockey on the first cover. We offer a collection of 12 from the 1950s including the inaugural issue, accompanied by a handful of Gordie Howe items including a pair of signed specimens. First, the magazines all appear complete and in excellent condition, with the first issue sporting heavier surface wear to the covers and toning to the interior. A number of the stars of the day are featured on covers including the Rocket, Plante, Worsely, Geoffrion and others. The additional Howe items include a commemorative Howe sheet from 1991 signed by Gordie and son Marty (6 ½” x 11”, with faded signatures), an Upper Deck Howe 75th birthday ad signed by Gordie (3 ½” x 7 ½”), a pair of 1950s hockey magazines with Howe covers, an Eatons photo premium (heavy wear), 4 Beehive photos (Group 2, with moderate wear to the group), Upper Deck 65th birthday oversized cards (4) and more.
