Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Somewhat refreshing is the collection of our consignor, a longtime collector who did not consider card condition important and who just wanted to own ALL postwar hockey cards in any shape, with pretty much the widest possible range of conditions represented here. That equals totally hammered Poor examples and very alluring NM-or-better entries...and everything in between, with our guy getting cards autographed when he had the chance. A multi-creased, miscut Bernie Parent rookie (P) features a nice bold marker signature, while the set’s other key RC, that of Mickey Redmond is a pack-fresh NM-MT beauty, with a diamond cut to note. You see what we mean? There are 23 others in the Redmond vicinity (NM-or-better, most with diamond cuts), including #s 63-Lemaire and 165-Richard, as well as the last card, 216-Provost Masterton (OC). Notables close at EX-MT are 142-Unger RC and 164-Vachon, with 202-Mikita All-Star EX and 29-Howe VG. The regular 2-Orr card is among the lowest grade fillers and joined by the two checklists, 34-Sawchuk and 203-Howe AS. A VG+ Orr All-Star and Orr Norris (F) are also noteworthy. The remaining cards, in a binder, well, are a mix of conditions with the majority low to mid grade but with intermittent nicer ones – you’ll see. A NM Dennis Hull autographed card is accompanied by signed creased examples of HOFers Cheevers, Bower and Pilote, along with Maki, Miszuk RC and McCreary RC, with 188-Daley RC the lone missing card. What a unique assembly!
