Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

One of the most desirable hockey rookie cards of the modern era, that picturing Bobby Hull, a “blond husky of brilliant promise” as he’s described on the back, always highlights assemblies of 1958-59 Topps cards, with the example here featuring The Golden Jet’s classic autograph. Bobby added the “#16” that he wore when he first broke into the NHL, with card #66 Fair, with creases and rounded corners. Eddie Shack also used blue marker to sign his rookie card, it too with side-to-side creasing, with the Shack accompanied by a COA from Frameworth. A heavier such crease afflicts 2-Sawchuk (P), while F cards of 8-“Gordy” Howe card and 13-Hall are also to note. Although there are some three dozen others in the P-F-G range, including 39-Worsley (P) and ten with back damage in the way of paper loss (36-Pilote), some brighter lights make it to G+ and VG or a bit better, with 14-Wharram RC, 21-Bathgate (faded), 40-Bucyk, 52-Delvecchio and 65-Ullman among them – not bad.
