A cultural landmark event that reinforced Canada’s hockey supremacy, the 1972 Summit Series featured the best the mighty maple leaf could muster, taking on a strong, disciplined Soviet squad that proved to be a formidable opponent for any team. This lot offers a huge collection of Summit Series autographs, with a considerable group of signed index cards, with a number of additional Canada-Russia items and additional signatures. Included, the index cards feature duplication, with Dryden (no personalization), Orr (3, including 2 that are cuts glued to index cards), T Esposito (2), Johnston (10), Gilbert, Tallon (2), Ratelle (3), Bergman (3), Martin (4), Perreault (2), Goldsworthy (3), Savard (10), Ellis (10), Clarke (3), Lapointe (3), White (6), Dionne (2), Park (5), Henderson (5), Cashman (5), F Mahovlich (6), Mikita (8), Seiling (5), P Mahovlish (13), Redmond (2), Glennie (7), Cournoyer (7), P Esposito (2), Hadfield (5), Hull (17), Guevremont (6), Berenson (4), Parise (3), Stapleton (8), Eagleson (2), Esaw (9) and Sinden (6) for the Canadians, along with Kharlamov (with erased pencil marks), Petrov (hockey card), Firsov, Starshinov, Tretiak (signed ticket stub), Kuzkin, Shadrin, Lyapkin, Anisin and a few others for the Soviets. The additional items include first day covers signed by Tretiak/T Esposito (2), Mahovlich brothers, and two multi-signed with Tretiak and Henderson, Team Canada postcards signed by Billy Harris (2), Summit Series schedules (4), small patches for Canada, USA, CCCP, Finland, Czechoslovakia, and Sweden, 1980 Lake Placid hockey tickets signed by Murray Costello and Peter Stastny, and two 1974 Canada-Russia programs including a Home TV edition signed by Backstrom, Harris and Houle. The additional signed index cards include Foster Hewitt, Bill Hewitt, Vachon (3), Gainey, Sittler (3), Bowman, Meeker (3), Davidson (11) and a few others. The additional Russian player signed index cards include Larionov, Kapustin, Deviatov, Shaumov, Golikov (2), Terekhin, Orlov, Gostyuslev, Repynev, Kylikov, Tyerhin, Filippov, Kotov (3), Krikunov, Glukov, Dorashenko, Maslov, Bobinov and others. The majority of the signatures display beautifully with no issues, with light to moderate handling wear to the items themselves. It should be noted that the break-up value to the collection is substantial.
