Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
With a passion for the game of hockey that began, like for many Canadian youngsters, on a backyard rink, Wayne Gretzky, by the time he was six, had skated circles around so many pylons and shot so many pucks into a small net that he was greatly superior at skating and puckhandling than any other kid his age. He started playing against 10-year-olds and by the time he was 10 himself, scored 378 goals in one season - a sign of things to come! When his superiority landed him in the NHL, Wayne broke records in unfathomable ways; 50 goals in 39 games and four 200-point seasons come to mind. Coming to auction, this example of Gretzky's 1979-80 Topps rookie card features bright vivid colors and has been graded 7.5 NM+ by KSA. Less-than-perfect centering and a white speck at the upper left and lower right corners are to be aware of, with a scratch-free holder also noteworthy. If you’ve been wanting/hoping to add a Topps version of The Great One’s rookie card to your stash, this encapsulated offering is worthy of contemplation.
