Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Reminiscent of past brother trios that all represented the same NHL club including the Bentleys in the 1940s and Plagers in the 1970s, the Stastny brothers were the first stars of Eastern bloc hockey to grace the NHL, with Peter and Marian joining the Quebec Nordiques in 1980-81, followed by Anton in 1981-82. This lot offers a collection of five sticks from the 1980s, with a trio of specimens used by Peter, a single stick that saw action with Anton, and a stick issued for Marian’s use. Each stick sport’s the respective player’s name, with the game-used examples all showing moderate use with the original tape jobs intact (one has the blade tape removed). Two of Peter’s sticks are also signed.
The breakdown includes a pair of matching Peter Stastny Vic Ultra sticks from the mid-1980s along with a Chimo model date stamped from 1987-88, with “26” handwritten over each handle, with the Chimo and one of the Vic sticks signed, with all three showing moderate to heavier use. Next, the Anton stick is a Vic Ultra model from the mid-1980s, with “20” handwritten and light game-use exhibited. Lastly, the Marian Stastny stick is a game-issued Vic Ultra model that shows no use, with a few small stains present.
