Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
A trio of vintage minor league jerseys are offered including a pair from the BCHL, with a 2006-07 Merritt Centennials jersey worn by Blake O'Connor in 2006-07, a Cowichan Capitals jersey attributed to Taylor Leger in 2015-16 and a Shawinigan Cataractes "1960s Boston Bruins" jersey worn by Jimmy Grondin in 1998-99. First, the Centennials jersey sports SP Pro labeling with “54” sizing, with CJHL and SP crests over the reverse hem. Styled with a tackle twill maple leaf team crest, “22” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with a number of sponsorship patches also affixed. There is heavy wear present including marks, burns and small slits, with holes resulting from board burns over the right shoulder. There is also evidence of a former nameplate. Next, the Capitals jersey is in Washington colours with a similar team crest, with Bauer “56” sizing along the collar and a BCHL crest sewn to the left breast. Sporting layered tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, there are burns, scrapes and material pulls over each sleeve, and we should note that Leger saw action in 4 contests with the Capitals in 2015-16. Lastly, the Cataractes jersey is identical to that of the Boston Bruins, with a mostly detached Bauer label with goalie style “58” sizing along with a tackle twill team crest and numbers. The jersey was designed for the club’s 30th anniversary, with the Cataractes originally known as the Bruins upon joining the QMJHL in 1969-70, first wearing jerseys identical to the NHL club. Heavy use is exhibited, with stick and puck marks over the front along with additional marks, burns and red paint transfer over each sleeve. A team COA will accompany for the Capitals jersey, with a copy of the original COA for the Cataractes jersey also included.
