Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Some classic “stamp” action from the 1970s highlights this offering and recalls the question kids often would ask during the 1970-71 hockey season, “Dad, do you need any gas?” You see, “Power Players” were available at Esso gas stations back in the day, with two complete sets here joined by a classic (and packed) NHL Power Player Trader Wallet. Multiples of stars Beliveau, Richard, Hall, Giacomin and others are to be discovered, while one hard cover album is without its covers. The one with covers exhibits wear to the dust jacket and splits on the inside covers, at the spine, as is often seen. Still mighty cool to flip through, as is a complete “Loblaws” stamp album from ’74-75, with tape reinforcing its spine. Five 9-pocket pages house cards from ’69-70 to ’72-73, with a dozen ’69-70 Topps examples appearing MINT or very close to it. Another page has vintage Guy Lafleur cards and an Upper Deck Vintage Lafleur jersey card. A set of mid-1970s “Popsicle” cards are credit card-size plastic affairs and cool, with miscellaneous vintage and (mostly) modern cards possibly yielding a few fun finds. A Montreal Canadiens Vachon sticker album has all stickers neatly stuck into place while a set of five Topps sticker sheets from 1997 is also nifty. Other miscellaneous grab bag items complete the lot.
