Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Two unique issues from the good old 1970s are available here, with close to 300 “NHL Action Players” photos, commonly referred to as Toronto Sun photos, featuring terrific images not seen in/on other collectibles. Many players’ full names appear (i.e. Ronald John Edward Ellis), making for more uniqueness. The 5-1/4” by 7” pictures on paper stock here are tastesfully displayed in two-pocket pages – you’re gonna love flipping through the binder, the stars, the commoners and the goalie masks of the era procuring fond memories. Condition is also pleasing; we do not spot any obvious/unsightly creases. Some stars are included in 40-plus loose duplicates, some with condition issues, with a couple of loose albums also thrown-in. A 51-card Lipton Soup set features both Borje Salming variations and again, very few noticeable creases. The cards were difficult to cut from soup boxes back in the day, so full borders and perfectly straight edges are not usually seen and such is the case here, but crease-free images are a definite attribute, along with the star-studded lineup that includes Orr, Dryden, Clarke, Sittler, Parent, Tony O and others. A dozen duplicates include multi-creased cards of Orr and Dryden and there’s a Jacques Lemaire card slabbed “Authentic” by PSA. A chance to score two cool sets with one swoop here.
