Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Backstopping the Montreal Canadiens throughout the close of the Original Six era through the dominance of the mid-to-late-1970s, Rogie Vachon and Michel Larocque both spent considerable time in a Habs uniform. Vachon would capture the Vezina Trophy in 1968, while Larocque would share the honour four times. This lot offers a collection of Vachon and Larocque items totaling seven, with a vintage Habs jersey and a pair of framed newsprint photos signed by Vachon, along with a stick used by Larocque along with three photo displays including one signed. First, the jersey is a vintage souvenir example with tackle twill team crest and heat-pressed vinyl numbers, signed over the lower front in dark blue marker, with no issues for the autograph and moderate wear to the jersey. Next, the Vachon newsprint photos hail from the late-1960s/early-1970s and measure approx 15 ½” x 22 ½”, with each signed in black marker, framed to slightly larger dimensions. The Larocque stick is a Titan Super Pro model with “M. Larocque” stamped to the upper shaft, with the knob tape intact as well as most of the blade tape. The stick hails from the early-1980s and could have possibly been used with Toronto, with moderate to heavier wear present, with a crack to the blade. The Larocque photo displays include a vintage 8” x 10” black and white media photo with editorial lines drawn, framed to slightly larger dimensions (unsigned, with moderate surface wear), a display with two pages taken from a media guide including stats until 1978-79, matted and framed to approx 12” x 14”, and a display with signed card that also features a pair of matted images, with the card signed in ballpoint, framed to roughly 15” x 19”.
