Scoring eight goals in a single match at the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament to crush a previous record held by Guy Lafleur, Dale Hawerchuk was later selected 6th overall by Cornwall of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and earned Rookie of the Year honours for his 103 points. Netting 183 points in his sophomore campaign, Hawerchuk would lead the Royals to consecutive Memorial Cup championships in 1980 and 1981, which included earning the Canadian Major Junior Player of the Year and Memorial Cup MVP in 1981. Hailing from his personal collection, we have the watch presented to Dale for the 1980 Memorial Cup championship, as well as a puck display and three medals ("1st Star", "2nd Star" and "Memorial Cup All-Star Team"), along with an additional three medal for the 1981 Memorial Cup ("1st Star", "2nd Star" and "Memorial Cup All-Star Team"). An LOA from the family of Dale Hawerchuk will accompany.
First the watch is a Caravelle model with CAHA logo on the dial and "Memorial Cup Championship Regina 1980" stamped to the reverse of the case, with wear from use exhibited including scratches to both the watch and band. Next, the puck display is a wooden shield at 16" x 20" with pucks from the 10 QMJHL teams mounted, with a centered engraved plaque that states "Cornwall Royals Coupe Memorial Cup 1980", with surface wear throughout including some damage to the shield at the bottom. The medals are all 2 1/4" in diameter with attached ribbons, with each have a generic player on the reverse and the particulars engraved, with expected wear to the group.
